What this indicator measures
Wine, grape must, beer, soft drinks, alcohol and spirits, bottled in containers or as liquid bulk. Puertos del Estado publishes every month the tonnes of this commodity loaded, unloaded or in transit across all ports of general interest, as a cumulative figure since January, and once a year the breakdown by port authority. Figures for the current year are provisional until the yearbook is published.
Context
Spain is among the world’s largest wine exporters by volume, part of it in bulk. Container exports leave through the large general cargo ports, and the islands receive almost all the beverages they consume by sea.
