The seven Andalusian ports of general interest handled 104.4 million tonnes of total traffic in the year to August 2026, 1.2% more than in the same period of 2025. In August alone, the figure was 13.6 million tonnes, 10.2% more than in August 2025.

Bahía de Algeciras ranks first among port authorities in Andalusia with 67.5 million tonnes in the year to August 2026 (virtually the same as a year earlier). It is followed by Huelva (20.2 million) and Almería (4.25 million). Together, the three account for 88.2% of the total.
The largest increases were recorded by Bahía de Cádiz (+11.7%), Málaga (+11.6%) and Almería (+4.6%); the steepest falls by Motril (−14.0%).
The rest of the top ten are Málaga (4th, 4.04 million, +11.6%), Bahía de Cádiz (5th, 3.87 million, +11.7%), Sevilla (6th, 2.78 million, +1.7%) and Motril (7th, 1.66 million, −14.0%).

Together they account for around a quarter of Spanish port traffic, the largest share of any region, although heavily concentrated in Algeciras. Context
Bahía de Algeciras contributes about two thirds of Andalusian traffic thanks to container transhipment and bunkering; Huelva is the second port with the liquid and dry bulk of its industrial cluster. Sevilla is Spain’s only inland port, Málaga and Cádiz rely on cruises and conventional cargo, and Almería and Motril have lines to Morocco and Algeria.
