What this indicator measures
Every day EED Data reads the Spanish Public Sector Procurement Platform and stores all procedures of the 28 port authorities, Puertos del Estado, Adif and Salvamento Marítimo: works, services and supplies. The tendered amount is the base budget excluding VAT of procedures published during the year; the awarded amount is the award value of those already resolved. A procedure can be tendered one year and awarded the next.
Context
Port authorities invest around €1 billion a year in works and equipment, with Puertos del Estado as coordinator and Adif on rail access. Large tenders (new terminals, breakwaters, access routes) concentrate the amount in a few procedures; services and supplies make up most procedures by number.
