The startups and entrepreneurial projects participating in the second edition of the Acceleration Program of the Digital Entrepreneurship Center in Port Logistics at the Port of Algeciras celebrated an immersion day on July 7 in the port facilities, where they learned firsthand about the functioning of the logistics hub of the Bay of Algeciras.
The visit, organized as part of the Andalucía Mission initiative, aimed to bring participants closer to the operational reality of the logistics-port environment and offer a reading more connected to the ground regarding the challenges and opportunities of the sector. The practical experience is part of the acceleration itinerary designed to help startups develop and validate solutions applicable to real problems in the port business.
The agenda began at the Digital Entrepreneurship Center itself, with a training session on the port ecosystem. Entrepreneurs reviewed the role of the different actors involved in the logistics and maritime activity of the Bay of Algeciras, as well as the dynamics of coordination among them, a determining aspect for the efficiency of the supply chain and to understand where a technological solution can fit.
Next, the participants visited the Process Coordination Center (CCP) of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA), the infrastructure from which port operations are supervised and coordinated. During the tour, they learned about the technological systems used for monitoring and managing port activity, as well as the importance of digitization and data processing in day-to-day operational decision-making.
The day continued at the TTI Algeciras Container Terminal (TTIA), one of the main terminals in the Mediterranean, where entrepreneurs observed in situ the operation of cargo and maritime traffic. The visit concluded with a tour of various port infrastructures, which offered an overview of the scale and complexity of the Port of Algeciras Bay.
The activity is part of the support actions planned within the acceleration program of the Digital Entrepreneurship Center in Port Logistics, an initiative promoted within the Andalucía Mission, the technological entrepreneurship program of the Junta de Andalucía aimed at innovative projects in strategic sectors.
With activities of this type, the Center directly connects entrepreneurs, companies, and operators in the logistics-port ecosystem, with the aim of promoting the development of solutions applicable to digital transformation, sustainability, and competitiveness in the port sector.
With the second edition already underway, the APBA extends the outreach line between startups and operators in the port ecosystem initiated in the first call of the Digital Entrepreneurship Center, in a format that combines training with visits to key port facilities — CCP, TTIA, and other port infrastructures — so that projects are designed with direct knowledge of the operations they are intended for.
