Americold participates in Fruit Attraction 2026 as one of the 24 companies in the port community accompanying the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) at IFEMA Madrid. Within the Algeciras delegation, the company contributes one of the components directly linked to the physical infrastructure of the cold chain: a facility specialized in temperature-controlled storage located at the Isla Verde Dock.

The Algeciras center is classified by the company itself as a port facility and has three temperature zones: ambient, refrigerated, and frozen. Its specific catalog for this location includes import and export services, customs warehousing, unit parking, and container hauling between port facilities and the warehouse.

This combination positions Americold's activity in the segment between the arrival of goods at the port and their subsequent dispatch to distribution centers, customers, or new maritime destinations. In the case of fruits and vegetables, it allows the load to be kept within an environment prepared for temperature-sensitive products while logistical, customs, or transportation operations are completed.

Fruits and vegetables are explicitly listed among the product categories served by Americold in Spain. The company has four facilities in the country, two in the Barcelona area and two others located in the ports of Valencia and Algeciras, with a combined capacity exceeding 76,000 pallets.

The Spanish network provides storage in different thermal ranges, from ambient temperature to refrigeration and freezing, as well as complementary services such as rapid freezing, repackaging, labeling, and light food processing. The company also offers full load transportation, local movements, and last-mile distribution.

In Algeciras, Americold also includes customs clearance among its services. The company specifically notes the provision of this service at its facilities in Valencia and Algeciras, including management related to border control and the regulatory requirements applicable to import and export operations.

The location at Isla Verde allows these functions to be combined with proximity to maritime terminals and the entry and exit circuit of goods at the Port of Algeciras. For horticultural products arriving in refrigerated containers from transoceanic markets, port storage offers an alternative to temporarily keep the goods at controlled temperature before distribution or a new logistical operation.

Americold globally develops this model through import and export centers located in port enclaves. Its international offering includes multi-temperature storage, customs warehousing, clearance coordination, inspections, consolidation, and port services for temperature-sensitive products. The Algeciras facility is part of this network specialized in international food chains.

The company also has specific solutions for fruits and vegetables within its global business. Americold links these services to refrigerated storage, handling, packaging, and import and export operations, with facilities located in both producing areas and some of the main ports used by these goods.

The presence of this type of infrastructure is part of the proposal that the Port of Algeciras is presenting these days in Madrid. The APBA estimates more than 5,500 available connections for refrigerated containers at its terminals and more than 30,000 pallets of the existing combined capacity in refrigerated terminals and logistics areas close to the port area.

Americold covers within that network the storage and logistical treatment of food goods under different thermal conditions, also incorporating port transport and customs services. Its Isla Verde facility allows for the integration of these operations within the port environment of Algeciras, where long-distance maritime traffic and land distribution chains for perishable products converge.
