The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) held the 4th Annual Meeting of Companies Participating in its Green Strategy at the Millán Picazo Auditorium, bringing together the 47 organizations that are part of this environmental collaboration network. The event, held on November 6, included for the first time the presentation of the Green Excellence Awards, with Moeve as the winning company and Gabarras y Servicios and Stone Brothers Group among the finalist companies.

The meeting offered an opportunity to learn about various initiatives related to sustainability, adaptation to climate change, and environmental management in the port areas of the Bay of Algeciras and Tarifa. The participating companies also included Transpiedra, part of Stone Brothers Group, which took part in the program presenting environmental projects developed by organizations participating in the Green Strategy.

In this first edition of the awards, Moeve received the 1st Green Excellence Award in the Environmental Action category for its Mar Inea project, an ecological restoration initiative aimed at restoring seagrass meadows through innovative techniques. The project focuses on restoring these ecosystems as part of the company's environmental initiatives.

The jury also announced the five finalist entries in the same category, from Acerinox, APM Terminals Algeciras, Gabarras y Servicios, Península, and Stone Brothers Group. The proposals were selected for their contribution to sustainability, environmental innovation, and improving conditions in the port environment.

The inclusion of Gabarras y Servicios among the finalist companies places this company, which is connected to maritime activity in the Bay of Algeciras, among those selected to participate in the awards' inaugural edition. Its entry was among the projects assessed by the jury in the Environmental Action category, alongside initiatives submitted by the other finalist companies.

Meanwhile, Stone Brothers Group, the business group that includes Transpiedra, is also among the five finalist organizations. In addition to its participation in the awards, Transpiedra took part in the meeting sessions showcasing the environmental measures undertaken by participating companies, sharing the program with initiatives presented by Moeve.

The event was opened by the president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, Gerardo Landaluce, who discussed the importance of collaboration between companies, public authorities, and knowledge centers in transforming the environmental impact of port activities. His remarks addressed issues related to the energy transition, competitiveness, and sustainability within the APBA's remit.

The program included various technical sessions on adaptation to climate change, decarbonization, and environmental management, with the participation of specialized organizations and business representatives. These topics are among the areas of work pursued by the Port Authority through its Green Strategy, in collaboration with participating organizations.

Topics discussed included the Climate Change Adaptation Plan that the Technical University of Madrid is developing for APBA. The meeting presented the project's progress, which concerns incorporating climate adaptation measures in the port area and analyzing needs related to the effects of climate change.

The Andalusian Climate Change Office also took part in the event to present the tools it makes available to companies and public authorities for climate action. The presentation included instruments related to emissions management and the implementation of measures aimed at reducing the environmental impact of business and institutional activities.

Presentations of projects by participating organizations formed another part of the program. Transpiedra and Moeve took part in this segment, sharing initiatives related to their respective environmental activities. These sessions enabled companies in the Port Authority's collaboration network to exchange information about their work.

APBA's Green Strategy currently has 47 participating organizations, from various fields of activity related to the port environment. The annual meeting is one of the initiative's collaboration tools, bringing participants together for technical sessions, presentations of business projects, and the exchange of experiences.
