UCC Iberia participates in Fruit Attraction 2026 as one of the 24 companies from the port community accompanying the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) at IFEMA Madrid. The company brings a profile especially related to the flows of fresh fruit from Latin America and the international transport of refrigerated goods.

UCC's structure is present in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, the United States, and Spain, a geographical distribution that coincides with several of the markets that supply the international fruit and vegetable chains. From Algeciras, its activity is integrated into a freight forwarding network aimed at coordinating export and import operations from origin to delivery at destination.

Perishable cargo occupies a specific space within its offering. UCC works with maritime transport of fruit and other temperature-sensitive products in refrigerated containers, coordinating the different stages of the operation, from picking up the goods and preparing documentation to maritime booking, monitoring during transit, and final delivery.

The company claims to have managed more than 357,000 containers on international routes and over seven million tons of goods. Its maritime activity includes full loads, refrigerated products, and operations in which the control of transit times and availability of reefer equipment dictate the planning of exporters.

In addition to this maritime component, road transport is added. UCC organizes movements from production centers, refrigerated warehouses, and packing plants to ports and other connection points, as well as the land routes following the arrival of the goods. The service can be integrated into door-to-door operations and combined with maritime and air transport.

Traceability is also part of this model. The company offers monitoring of the cargo during the different phases of transport, with information on the evolution of shipments from planning to arrival at the destination. For perishable products, this visibility allows coordinating the successive stages of a logistics chain involving producers, packings, carriers, ports, shipping companies, authorities, and distributors.

The position of UCC Iberia within the Algeciras port community has a special relationship with the current origins of the refrigerated goods that the port handles. Costa Rica and Peru are among the main countries of origin for these traffic flows, according to data that the APBA presents this week at Fruit Attraction. Both are part of the international UCC network, along with other producing markets like Chile and Colombia.

Pineapple, avocado, and banana are among the products with the highest presence in the refrigerated imports channeled through Algeciras. The maritime connection with Central America and South America allows these goods to arrive in reefer containers and continue afterward to distribution centers and consumer markets in Spain and other European countries.

UCC's Spanish office is located in the logistics environment of Algeciras and serves as the company's European base. From there, import and export operations are handled and services developed in American producing countries are connected to the existing logistics network in Southern Europe.

UCC Iberia also regularly participates in the commercial actions that the Port of Algeciras directs to the fresh products sector. The company accompanied the APBA last February at Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin, where the Algeciras delegation focused part of its activity on business relations with Central America and on the digitization of health and customs documentation.

This same corridor occupies a specific space at Fruit Attraction. The APBA presents in Madrid the project of interoperability between the Central American Digital Trade Platform of SIECA and the Port Community System of the Port of Algeciras, aimed at the electronic exchange of documentation related to the international movement of goods.

The initiative directly affects supply chains like those managed by UCC, in which a shipment can begin at a Latin American farm or packing center, continue via road transport to the port of origin, make the transoceanic segment in a reefer container, and complete the necessary processes in Algeciras before joining the European distribution.

The company adds air transport, documentation coordination, import and export management, and insurance contracting to this activity, within a model that allows organizing the different stages of an international operation from a single logistics structure.

At Fruit Attraction 2026, UCC Iberia thus becomes part of the transoceanic component of the Algeciras representation, with a network established in several of the main Latin American producing countries and an office in Algeciras that connects those markets with the European import and distribution chains.
