Cernaval faces the summer season with a high workload at its facilities, where it is currently simultaneously carrying out repair and maintenance work on six ships of different types. The occupancy of the docks and wharfs of the shipyard allows for projects of very diverse nature, a circumstance that reflects the capacity of its facilities to adapt to different segments of transportation and the maritime industry.
The distribution of the ships in the facilities shows the variety of operations that are taking place. In the floating dock, there is a tanker for chemical products, while at the inner berth, a working suction dredger (Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger, TSHD) and a ro-pax ship for combined transportation of passengers and vehicles coincide.
For its part, the dry dock simultaneously accommodates a car ship and another ro-pax ship, a configuration that allows for optimizing the available capacity through tandem berthing. At the outer wharf, a container ship undergoing repair work remains.
The company attributes this operational capacity to the flexibility of its infrastructure, both due to the dimensions of its docks and the availability of berths with drafts of up to 14 meters, characteristics that allow receiving ships of different sizes and specializations without limiting the planning of the work.
