Cernaval has completed the dry docking repair work on the LNG carrier Permian Lady at its facilities in Campamento, in the Bay of Algeciras. This LPG tanker has a capacity of 37,397 cubic meters and remained at the shipyard for two weeks during April 2026. The work has concluded according to the planned schedule and included hull treatment, mechanical work, electrical tasks, and other operations associated with the ship's second special inspection.

The Permian Lady, with IMO number 9729269, sails under the flag of Singapore and was built in 2016. Its main dimensions are around 180 meters in length and 28.4 meters in beam, according to available technical records of the vessel. The profile of Western Shipping also includes its classification as Singapore/Lloyd’s Register, its construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and a deadweight of 28,372 metric tons.

The main intervention carried out during the stay of the LNG carrier at Cernaval has been a general review of the safety relief valves of the cargo tanks and the void spaces, an operation performed under the supervision of a service engineer from Nordan Marine A/S. This type of work requires coordination between the shipyard, specialized technical services, and the owner’s representative, as it involves elements directly related to the operational safety of the vessel and the management of cargo in units dedicated to the transport of liquefied gases.

The repair of the Permian Lady has coincided with a high occupancy phase at the Campamento facilities. During April and May of 2026, Cernaval has for the first time conducted a tandem operation in its two docks, placing four vessels simultaneously between the dry dock and the floating dock. Specifically, a trimaran and a general cargo ship in the floating dock, while two ro-ro vessels from Baleària and AML were simultaneously in the dry dock.

This activity has been supplemented by two afloat repairs at the shipyard's own docks, corresponding to a chemical tanker and a container ship. The coincidence of six operations in dry dock and afloat reflects Cernaval's organizational capacity to accommodate vessels of different types, lengths, beams, and drafts within the same operational period. It also highlights the role of Campamento as a site linked to ship repair in the Strait of Gibraltar area, an international maritime transit zone with a high potential demand for technical services.
