The Port of Algeciras has launched the H2 Tractor this Tuesday,H2 Tractor, a hydrogen-powered tractor unit that has already begun operations under real conditions within the port area, marking a milestone in the decarbonization of maritime logistics.
The official presentation took place in the South Dock, where the vehicle has been incorporated into the daily operations of the port after passing through preliminary tests in Seville and Huelva. The project has been developed by the company EVO through its brand ÉVOLUTION SYNERGÉTIQUE, in collaboration with Logístika 360 and the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras.
The H2 Tractor is designed for demanding logistics environments and can transport up to 95 tons, with a range of up to 16 hours and zero harmful emissions. Additionally, it incorporates advanced technologies such as cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, and 5G connectivity, positioning it as a next-generation solution in industrial mobility.
From the project's organization, it has been emphasized that the arrival of hydrogen at the port represents a turning point in its energy strategy. The incorporation of the vehicle will also allow for real-time operational data collection to assess its performance and efficiency under real working conditions.
The president of the Port Authority, Gerardo Landaluce, has highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in the development of initiatives of this type, while from Logístika 360, individuals like Manuel Cózar have emphasized the project's potential in terms of efficiency and energy savings. On EVO's part, its team has indicated that the combination of industrial strategy, technology, and innovation has transformed the project into an operational reality, also surpassing a rigorous homologation process as an automotive service machine.
