The ETSIA of Algeciras inaugurates the Moeve Laboratory to promote the energy transition

The Higher Technical School of Engineering of Algeciras of the University of Cádiz has inaugurated the Moeve Laboratory for the Energy Transition, a new research center focused on the development of innovative solutions in the field of sustainable energy. The laboratory, integrated into the Department of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology, relies on the trajectory of the specialized group in supercritical fluids and high-pressure reaction processes, thus consolidating an advanced research line in applied chemical engineering. Among its main lines of work are the production of biofuels and synthetic fuels from biomass, the valorization of industrial and urban waste, as well as the study of renewable molecules such as e-ammonia, key in future decarbonized energy chains. The project has the backing of the company Moeve, which has contributed to the provision of high-tech equipment, such as a high-pressure and temperature hydrothermal reactor. This infrastructure will enhance the experimental capacity of the laboratory and boost research training through undergraduate, master's, and doctoral thesis work. During the inauguration, institutional and academic representatives highlighted the importance of this initiative as an example of collaboration between university and industry, as well as its strategic role in driving the energy transition and industrial innovation in the province of Cádiz.
