The Port of Salalah, in the Sultanate of Oman, has been targeted in a drone attack by two drones in the early hours of Saturday, March 28, 2026, an incident that caused moderate injuries to a foreign worker and limited damage to one of the cranes at the port facility, according to Omani security sources.
After the attack, in which explosions were also reported, the port was immediately evacuated and operations at the facility were temporarily suspended. Authorities indicated that the situation is under control and that assessments are being conducted to determine the total extent of the damage, as reported by the Oman News Agency.
The shipping company Maersk, one of the main operators active in the port, confirmed that all of its crew are safe and accounted for, and that none of its vessels or cargo have been affected by the incident. The Danish company estimated that operations will remain suspended for approximately 48 hours and committed to informing its clients should any changes occur within this timeframe as soon as it has new information.
The Government of Oman firmly condemned the attack, calling it a flagrant act of aggression. Authorities in the Sultanate reaffirmed their commitment to adopting all necessary measures to safeguard national security and ensure the protection of residents and workers throughout the country.
