Moeve Chemicals has completed the verification of its international network of chemical plants for the manufacture and supply of low-carbon emission products. The process has concluded following the certification of the facilities operated by the company in Brazil and Shanghai, the last remaining ones within its global production structure.
With the addition of these two centers, all production plants in Moeve's chemical division have verified capacity to produce products belonging to its Low Carbon portfolio. The company presents this range as a tool aimed at industrial clients looking to reduce the carbon footprint associated with their raw materials without changing the technical specifications of the products used in their processes.
The company asserts that the alternatives included in this portfolio maintain the levels of quality, performance, and reliability of conventional products. Its global commercialization allows it to serve companies from different markets from the facilities located in Europe, Asia, and America, with common criteria for the management and allocation of attributes related to the use of renewable energy.
The verification has been carried out by the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification, Aenor, based on the internal system developed by Moeve's Chemical division. This procedure sets forth the criteria applied in the different plants to control the origin, allocation, and management of the renewable energy attributes linked to the lower carbon footprint products.
The model seeks to guarantee the traceability of the information used in the company's environmental declarations. It also establishes a common methodology for all facilities, aiming for the products marketed under the same category to meet equivalent criteria, regardless of the center where they were manufactured.
The completion of the process in Brazil and Shanghai expands the geographical scope of the verification and allows Moeve Chemicals to supply Low Carbon products from its entire network. The company believes this coverage facilitates the integration of these raw materials into the supply chains of international clients who have emission reduction goals or internal measurement systems for their carbon footprint.
Among the products included in the portfolio is NextLab Low Carbon, a version with lower carbon content of linear alkylbenzene, known as LAB. This compound is primarily used as a raw material for the manufacture of surfactants intended for detergents and cleaning products.
NextLab Low Carbon is produced, among other centers, at Moeve Chemicals' plant located in Puente Mayorga, in the Cádiz municipality of San Roque. This facility is part of the industrial complex that the company maintains in the Algeciras Bay area and constitutes one of its main chemical production centers in Spain.
The portfolio also includes NextPhenol Low Carbon, a lower carbon footprint alternative intended for industrial applications related to the manufacture of resins, adhesives, and various materials used in the automotive and construction sectors. Phenol is an intermediate product used in numerous industrial chains, so reducing the emissions associated with its production can be transferred to various final products.
Moeve Chemicals points out that the verification system allows for traceable information about the environmental attributes assigned to these products. This documentation can be used by clients for their internal control processes, sustainability reports, or the calculation of the emissions associated with the raw materials they incorporate into their activity.
The global director of Safety, Energy, and Sustainability of Moeve's Chemical division, Alfredo López Carretero, has indicated that the completion of the verification across the entire network certifies the company's ability to provide low-emission solutions with homogeneous criteria in its different production centers.
According to the head of the division, the process allows for verified and traceable products to be offered to clients from various countries, as part of a strategy aimed at facilitating the reduction of emissions associated with their value chains. The company links this offer to the growing demand for raw materials with verifiable environmental information from manufacturers and distributors.
The availability of the Low Carbon range across the entire chemical network is part of Moeve's transformation strategy, the name adopted by the former Cepsa. Within this process, the company has incorporated solutions related to energy transition, circular economy, and emission reduction across its various areas of activity.
