The shipping company Baleària has scheduled for the upcoming Operation Crossing of the Strait, which will take place from June 15 to September 15, its largest commercial offer with up to 37 daily services between Spain and northern Africa. To respond to the high demand typical of summer months, the company will allocate 12 ships from its fleet on the eight routes it will operate with Morocco, Algeria, Ceuta, and Melilla, aiming to ensure reliable connectivity tailored to the needs of passengers during the peak maritime traffic season of the year in this area.
The general director of Baleària, Georges Bassoul, has pointed out the magnitude of the logistical device designed for this new campaign: "We once again surpass our commercial offer with a robust, reliable operation tailored to the needs of thousands of passengers who cross the Strait or the Alboran Sea every summer to reunite with their families." The executive emphasized the company's leadership in quality and competitiveness and stressed that "northern Africa is a strategic area for Baleària, as it represents the area of greatest business growth for the group in recent years."
To accompany this increase in commercial activity, the shipping group has specific onboard services to meet the needs of passengers on these routes. The ferries and fast ferries will have passenger assistance in Arabic and French, menus with halal food in the dining areas, and prayer rooms, offering a comprehensive service based on reliability, quality, and comfort.
On the connections with Morocco, where the company transported nearly one million passengers in the previous campaign, Baleària has decided to increase to 12 daily departures on the Tarifa-Tangier Ville route in its second year as an operator. As a novelty, the shipping company will replace one of its two usual fast ferries with a larger capacity one to respond to the high volume of passengers. On the Algeciras-Tangier Med route, the company will increase its connections to nine daily services, distributed throughout the day to facilitate a continuous flow of embarkations. On the other hand, on the Almería-Nador line, it will operate an average of three daily departures spread throughout the day.
On the connections with Algeria, the shipping company will offer, as it did last summer, five weekly connections: three rotations from Valencia to Mostaganem, one departure from Barcelona to Algiers, and another that will connect the Catalan capital with the city of Oran. In this market, where Baleària celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, it will operate with two ships.
Baleària will also guarantee up to eleven daily connections with Ceuta with two boats, while making between one and two services per day on its route with Melilla, ensuring reliability and adaptation to the demands of passengers.
