The Spanish shipping and logistics group Pérez y Cía. has received a delegation of COSCO Shipping at its headquarters in Madrid, the largest state-owned shipping company in China and one of the main ones in the world, in a meeting aimed at consolidating the commercial relationship between both companies and exploring new avenues for collaboration. The visit also served to welcome Jiang Yongbing as the new CEO of COSCO Shipping Lines (Spain) S.A. and to thank Kun Wan for his continued support and the long history of collaboration with the Spanish group.
The Chinese delegation was made up of representatives from COSCO Shipping Lines Spain, COSCO Shipping Holding (Europe) Supply Chain, Ocean Rail Logistics, and COSCO Shipping Greece. From Pérez y Cía., Javier Ferrer Muñoz-Seca, executive president of the group, and Gonzalo Pérez-Maura de la Mora, CEO, attended along with executives from various companies in the group, including Go Transport, Barcelona Container Depot Services, and the new Terminal Container Services Zaragoza. Marck Poveda, general director of COSCO Spain, led the representation of the Chinese shipping company.
Pérez y Cía. is one of the main shipping groups in Spain, with a presence in the most relevant ports in the country, including the port of Algeciras. The group is one of the two shareholder partners of COSCO Shipping in Spain —along with the Basque shipping company— a long-standing alliance that links it directly with the Chinese shipping company in the Spanish market. Pérez y Cía. offers services in shipping, logistics, and terminal management. The mention of the new Terminal Container Services Zaragoza points to the expansion of the group's activities toward inland logistics facilities, a growing trend in the sector to complement port activities with intermodal platforms inland.
COSCO Shipping operates an extensive network of regular maritime services that connect Spanish ports with Asia, Europe, and the rest of the world, with regular stops in Algeciras, Valencia, and Barcelona. COSCO Ports, the terminal subsidiary of the Chinese group, acquired the port terminals of Noatum in Spain in 2017.
