The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) has awarded the contract for the execution of the reorganization project of the southern logistics area of Isla Verde to the company Alvac for an amount of 1,236,971 euros. This action is part of the port authority's investment plan to modernize land access and optimize internal mobility within the facility.
The intervention will take place after the completion of the works of the new South Access and the Process Coordination Center in the same area, thus consolidating a key phase in the transformation of Isla Verde into a strategic logistics space.
The project includes a comprehensive reorganization of the logistics block, aiming to clearly delineate the roads intended for vehicular traffic, the sidewalk areas, and the pedestrian crossing points. This new distribution aims to facilitate the identification of spaces and improve coexistence between vehicles —especially heavy ones— and pedestrians.
Among the planned actions, the redesign of vehicle entry and exit access stands out, as well as the improvement of intersections, taking into account the trajectories and maneuverability of trucks that usually operate in the area. Likewise, the rehabilitation of the road surface, which has lost uniformity over time, and the expansion of the electrical infrastructure in the east road will be carried out.
