The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras has put out to tender the works to renew part of the systems that allow for the safe berthing of ships in phase B of the Isla Verde Exterior dock. The contract has an estimated value of 2,380,165.29 euros, excluding VAT, while the total tender budget reaches 2.88 million euros, taxes included. Interested companies may submit their bids until October 8, 2026, at 14:00 hours.
The intervention focuses on the final section of the East dock of Isla Verde Exterior, located between bollards 26 and 60. Inspections carried out by the Port Authority have allowed verification of the condition of the fenders that cushion the contact of the ship with the dock, the bollards used to secure the mooring lines, and other components of this port area.
The project continues the work carried out during 2025 in phase A of Isla Verde Exterior, within the TTIA container terminal. The documentation explains that those actions were related to both the condition of the existing systems and the increase in the dimensions and capacity of the ships that use the terminal. This same situation later led to a review of the phase B facilities.
The review has detected 28 fenders in the analyzed section. Of these, 26 show significant deterioration and have reached or exceeded their useful life, according to the report, while the other two are of recent installation and are in good condition. These elements function as large cushions placed at the front of the dock to reduce the impact that occurs during the berthing maneuvers of the ships.
