The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) has awarded Idom Consulting, Engineering, Architecture the contract for the Technical Coordination Office for Innovation Activities at the Bay of Algeciras Port, a structure tasked with managing and coordinating the main initiatives related to innovation and digital transformation at the port site.
The contract has been awarded for 602,000 euros excluding VAT, equivalent to 728,420 euros including taxes, and will have an initial duration of two years. The open procedure received five bids, and the award was agreed on September 17. The document also considers the possibility of two one-year extensions, while its estimated value amounts to 1.304 million euros.
The Technical Office will assume the coordination of the Innovation Journey program and will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Innovation Management System of the Port Authority. Among its tasks are the development of an innovative culture within the organization and the port community, the management of the open innovation program, support for digital transformation and innovation projects, and the dissemination of activities carried out in this area.
The structure also works on reviewing the port's innovation strategy, managing ideas and projects, preparing reports, monitoring indicators, and coordinating audits related to the management system. This system has had certification since 2019 for research, development, and innovation activities applied to logistics and port operations and, as of December 2025, is certified according to the international standard UNE-EN ISO 56001:2024.
