Hapag-Lloyd will include the Port of Algeciras in the new configuration of its Casablanca Spain Feeder (CSF), the regional service used by the shipping company for its connections with the Moroccan port of Casablanca, according to information attributed to the maritime consultancy Alphaliner.
The modification introduces Algeciras into a commercial coverage that also includes Barcelona, Valencia, and Casablanca. According to available sector information, Hapag-Lloyd will use capacity from X-Press Feeders to provide this product, relying on a regional network that already connects Spanish and Moroccan ports.
The incorporation of Algeciras represents a change from the previous configuration of the CSF. Maritime service databases identify this product of Hapag-Lloyd as the Casablanca Spain Feeder and currently include connections from Valencia to Casablanca and, in the opposite direction, from Casablanca to Barcelona and Valencia.
The network of X-Press Feeders that this reorganization involves has a regular presence in Algeciras. The service schedule published by the Port Authority of Vigo currently identifies the Spain Portugal Xpress Service (SPX) as a weekly connection that includes Valencia, Barcelona, Casablanca, Algeciras, and Tanger Med, along with other Spanish and Portuguese ports.
The documentation published directly by X-Press Feeders during 2026 also places Algeciras within its Spain Portugal X-Press 1, with operations in TTI Algeciras and connections with Barcelona, Valencia, Casablanca, and Tanger Med, among other rotation locations.
The adjustment of the Casablanca feeder occurs simultaneously with Hapag-Lloyd reorganizing its West Africa Express (WAX) service, which connects the Mediterranean with different ports in West Africa.
In this case, the German shipping company has communicated the modification directly. Hapag-Lloyd has confirmed that Casablanca will no longer be part of the main rotation of the WAX and that its traffic will be channeled through an independent feeder product, with a connection to the main service via Valencia.
The new configuration of the WAX consists of Damietta, Izmit, Gemlik, Istanbul, Valencia, and Tanger Med before continuing to Lagos, Onne, Cotonou, Tema, and Lomé. On the return journey, the vessels again call at Tanger Med and Barcelona before arriving back at Damietta.
Hapag-Lloyd's communication does not explicitly identify this feeder product as CSF nor does it specify the operator responsible for providing it. The relationship between the new configuration of the Casablanca Spain Feeder, X-Press Feeders, and the incorporation of Algeciras comes from information attributed to Alphaliner.
Hapag-Lloyd's operational documentation had already anticipated some changes in the WAX during August. The company then communicated the inclusion of Damietta and the withdrawal of Casablanca from one of the segments of the line, along with Valencia's entry into that part of the rotation.
With the incorporation of Algeciras into the CSF, Hapag-Lloyd adds the port of Algeciras to its regional offer linked to Casablanca, while maintaining Valencia as a connection point between the feeder serving the Moroccan port and the WAX service with West Africa.
