Andalusia raises its exports to China by 64% and reaches a record of 918 million until May

The community concentrates 27.1% of Spanish sales to the Chinese market, while Huelva gathers 87% of Andalusian exports.

Exports from Andalusia to China have reached 918 million euros between January and May 2026, the highest record for the community for the first five months of a year since comparable data has been available since 1995. The figure represents a year-on-year growth of 64%, more than 62 percentage points above the average increase in Spain, which is at 1.5%.

With these results, Andalusia has positioned itself as the leading Spanish community in exports to the Chinese market, concentrating 27.1% of the 3.387 billion euros sold by Spain to the Asian country during the analyzed period.

The Andalusian share is 2.4 percentage points above Catalonia, which holds the second position with 24.7%, and 15.4 percentage points above the Community of Madrid, third with 11.7%. Of the three leading exporting communities to China, Andalusia is the only one that has registered growth during the first five months of the year.

China occupies the eighth position among Andalusia's international markets and represents 4.9% of the total exports of the community.

By provinces, Huelva concentrates the largest share of Andalusian sales to the Chinese market, with 801 million euros between January and May. This figure equals 87% of the regional total and represents a year-on-year growth of 85%, the largest recorded among the eight Andalusian provinces.

Seville holds the second position, with exports worth 41 million euros and a share of 4.5%, although its sales have decreased by 8% compared to the same period in 2025. Next is Málaga, with 32 million euros, 3.4% of the total, and a growth of 30%.

Cádiz ranks fourth, with exports to China of 18 million euros between January and May, equivalent to 2% of the Andalusian total. The figure represents a year-on-year drop of 25.4%.

Granada has recorded 11 million euros, 1.2% of the total, after increasing its sales by 41%, the second largest provincial growth. Córdoba has exported products worth 8.2 million euros, 51% less; Jaén has reached 4.1 million, with a 19% reduction; and Almería has reported three million euros, 10.1% more than between January and May 2025.

The composition of Andalusian exports to China shows a high concentration in metal minerals, slags, and ashes, mainly copper. This chapter has generated sales of 795 million euros, representing 87% of the total, after registering a year-on-year growth of 85%.

Olive oil occupies the next position, with 41 million euros and a share of 4.5%, although its sales have decreased by 5.9%. This product is included in the fats and oils chapter, which has collectively reached 46 million euros.

Copper and its manufactures have added another 18 million euros, 2% of the exports, with a reduction of 22.3%. Meat and edible offal have also reached 18 million, after increasing their sales by 3.7%.

Among the chapters with the highest growth rates are machines, devices, and electrical material and their parts. Their exports have reached 11 million euros, 1.2% of the total, after multiplying by more than fifteen compared to the same period of the previous year, with an increase of 1,508%.

Plastics and their manufactures have recorded sales of 4.1 million euros and a growth of 207%. In turn, wood, charcoal, and wood products have reached 3.2 million, with a drop of 50%.

Organic chemicals have accounted for 2.8 million euros, 14.1% less than a year earlier, while machines, devices, and mechanical gadgets have reached 2.6 million, with a growth of 45%. Aluminum and its manufactures complete the top ten exporting chapters, with 2.2 million euros and a year-on-year decline of 29.6%.
