The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) participates from this Monday until Wednesday, May 14, in the 13th edition of Logismed, the International Transport and Logistics Fair held at the International Fair of Casablanca (Morocco). The APBA attends the event with the support of ICEX Spain Export and Investment and accompanied by six companies from the port community of Algeciras integrated into COMPORT: Transbull Cádiz, AGSA-Partida, ECS360 Logistics, Mertramar, Groupe Idec, and Total Logistics.
The Algeciras delegation plans to showcase the operational capacity of the Port of Algeciras to handle RoRo traffic in connection with Tangier Med, which recorded half a million units in 2025, a 5% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, the APBA will present the deployment of the Hercules Plan to industry professionals, which involves an investment of more than 200 million euros aimed at optimizing the spaces of the Port of Algeciras in anticipation of the increase in demand. Digitalization and sustainability complete the pillars of the message that the APBA will take to the Moroccan fair.
The Hercules Plan, framed within the Business Plan of the APBA, which includes investments of 580 million euros until 2030, revolves around four main actions: the expansion of the Galera Dock, currently under construction and expected to be operational by 2027; the demolition of sheds to gain operational space; the expansion of the Border Control Post (PCF), infrastructure that accounts for 70% of Spain's plant inspections; and the road restructuring within the port area. RoRo traffic between both shores of the Strait is already nearing half a million trucks per year just in the Algeciras-Tangier Med line, with an expectation of approaching 800,000 units in the coming years.
The presence of the APBA in Casablanca is framed within a particularly relevant edition for Spanish-Moroccan bilateral relations. Spain participates as the guest of honor, a recognition that reflects the density of bilateral economic relations and the growing importance of exchanges in the sectors of transport, infrastructure, and foreign trade. The Spanish participation, articulated by ICEX in collaboration with the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Casablanca, is organized around an official pavilion that brings together 27 companies and organizations.
