Konecranes acquires Coapsa Control's businesses in Spain

Konecranes has acquired the nuclear and port service businesses of Coapsa Control SL, a company specialized in crane services based in Viladecavalls, in the province of Barcelona. The operation took effect on July 1, 2026, and its amount has not been disclosed by the parties.

The purchase is part of Konecranes' growth strategy in its areas of Industrial Services and Port Services, allowing the company to expand its network of services in Spain with a new location in Catalonia. Coapsa Control SL brings a track record focused on clients in the nuclear and port sectors, with activities in inspections, preventive maintenance, technical service, repairs, and equipment modernization.

Founded in 1997, Coapsa Control SL has annual sales of approximately 4 million euros and a workforce of about 20 people. Its integration into Konecranes will maintain the technical knowledge accumulated by the company in maintenance operations and specialized assistance for cranes in highly demanding industrial environments.

The owners of Coapsa Control SL, Jordi Calatayud Castañ and Joan Quintana Canudas, have stated that the integration into Konecranes will allow the team to continue its activities and expand the business with a perspective of continuity. The operation guarantees, according to the purchasing company, that current customers will continue to benefit from the experience of Coapsa's staff in services related to port and nuclear facilities.

Catarina Lopez, Manager of Port Services at Konecranes, has indicated that the acquisition increases the company's presence in Catalonia and throughout Spain. She also stated that the operation keeps available for nuclear and port customers the specialized knowledge of the Coapsa Control team.

Coapsa's activities are integrated into a particularly sensitive area for port and industrial operators, where equipment availability, operational safety, and maintenance planning condition the continuity of operations. In the case of ports, inspection, repair, and crane modernization services are essential to maintain cargo handling capacity, reduce unplanned downtime, and adapt equipment to new operational needs.

Konecranes already has an international position in the cargo handling sector, both in industrial equipment and port solutions. Its business encompasses cranes, forklifts, automated systems, maintenance services, spare parts, and modernization projects. The acquisition of Coapsa Control is part of a growth policy through the incorporation of companies with local experience and specialized teams in specific markets.

The operation in Spain adds to other recent acquisitions made by Konecranes in the service area. In March 2026, the company acquired Ex-Kcranes, based in Rayong, in the Gulf of Thailand, and Trimate Industries Ltd, in New Zealand. Both operations, completed during the first quarter of 2026, aimed to expand Konecranes' service coverage in the Asia-Pacific region. The value of these acquisitions was also not disclosed.

Ex-Kcranes is an industrial services company serving customers in Thailand and Laos. Trimate Industries, on the other hand, supplies components and spare parts for cranes, in addition to acting as a distributor for Demag, a brand with a significant installed base in New Zealand. The two companies acquired in Asia-Pacific account for approximately 2.5 million euros in annual sales and a combined workforce of around 20 people.

With these operations, Konecranes continues to expand its international service network through the incorporation of companies with regional presence, technical knowledge, and customer portfolios in sectors where equipment availability is critical. The acquisition of Coapsa Control adds an operational base in Viladecavalls and a portfolio linked to nuclear and port facilities in Spain.

The Finnish company maintains its activity focused on material handling solutions, technical services, and equipment modernization. According to Konecranes, its business development relies on investments in digitalization and technology, as well as solutions aimed at improving the efficiency of material flows, operational safety, and adapting equipment to the current requirements of the industry.
