The company Évolution Synergétique (EVO) has completed the technical approval of its H2 Tractor, the first hydrogen-powered terminal tractor approved to operate on conventional roads in Spain. The completion of this procedure is the preliminary step for the deployment of the vehicle at the Port of Algeciras, where operational tests will be carried out under real conditions in collaboration with the company Logístika 360.
Over the past few months, EVO has developed a technical, regulatory, and administrative process aimed at ensuring that the vehicle can operate on conventional roads with a semi-trailer. The project has required defining the vehicle as an automotive service machine, identifying the applicable regulatory framework, and extracting specific technical requirements for this type of machinery.
On the administrative side, the company has obtained its registration in the vehicle manufacturers' registry and its representatives from the Ministry of Industry, as well as the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI), which allows assigning a unique identification number to each produced unit. EVO has also received official accreditation as a manufacturer from the competent authority regarding automotive certification.
The technical validation process has included conducting multiple internal tests that replicated the tests required by the approval bodies. Among the controls performed are the verification of component certificates such as headlights, glazing, and coupling devices; measurement of dimensions and weighing of the vehicle; inspection of lighting systems and mirrors; acoustic signaling tests and braking and maximum speed trials.
