TTI ALGECIRAS implements the first Appointment System for trucks at a container terminal in Spain

TTI ALGECIRAS has begun the implementation of an Appointment System for trucks (TAS), becoming the first container terminal in Spain to adopt a structured digital solution for the comprehensive management of land access.

The new system will allow for advance planning of truck flows, reducing waiting times and optimizing both gate capacity and the terminal's operational resources. Appointments will be managed by vehicle, linked to the license plate and automatically validated upon arrival.

Each reservation will have a specific time slot of 30 minutes and will allow for the management of more than one order during the same visit. Transport orders remain unchanged, with TAS incorporated as an additional digital layer aimed at transport companies, which will request their appointments through a simple and intuitive application.

The system also incorporates tools for tracking appointment compliance, monitoring absences and cancellations, as well as peak hour analysis, supported by quality indicators that will favor the continuous improvement of land operations.

The implementation of TAS is part of a set of measures that the terminal has been developing in recent years to enhance land-side efficiency. Among them stands out the recent launch of the weighing service at the gate and various system improvements aimed at speeding up processes and reducing congestion.

The platform is already successfully operating in several terminals in northern Europe with traffic volumes exceeding those of Algeciras, providing a solid reference for its local implementation.

The project has been developed in collaboration with the German company passify, specialized in digital solutions for coordinating truck flow at container terminals. With this initiative, the technology company enters the Spanish market in partnership with TTI ALGECIRAS.

The implementation has also counted on the active participation of the Container Transport Association of the Bay of Algeciras (ATCBA) and its associated companies, whose collaboration during the testing phase has been crucial to adapt the tool to the real needs of the Port of the Bay of Algeciras.
