Valenciaport has launched a new support point for the Ministry of the Interior for border control at the port of Valencia. The facilities, co-financed by 75% by the European Union through the European Funds for Internal Security (FESI), aim to improve border security at the ports of Valencia and Sagunto.
The new border post, with a budget of €584,767.59 (VAT included), is designed as one more step in managing external borders. Its function encompasses both the facilitation of migratory flows as well as the prevention, detection, and investigation of actions related to terrorism and other serious crimes.
The infrastructure, installed in a container adapted for this purpose, features large windows, thermal insulation, lighting, furniture, and cutting-edge technology for passport reading and traveler assistance. The installation is prepared to operate in identity verification and border control procedures with all technical and operational guarantees.
The project includes the implementation of the Entry-Exit System (EES, for its acronym in English) and the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). To this end, the acquisition of verification, supervision, and registration tablets is planned, which will facilitate the work of control teams and increase efficiency in border information management.
