Spanish exports of agri-food and fishery products to the United States reached 3.256 billion euros in 2025, 10% less than during the previous year, when they stood at 3.617 billion. The United States remained the second non-EU destination for these products, only behind the United Kingdom, according to the 2025 Annual Report on Agri-Food and Fishery International Trade from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).

The Ministry notes in its analysis that this decline was "possibly related" to the increase in tariffs during 2025. The report does not establish, therefore, an exclusive causal relationship between the tariff measures and the reduction in Spanish sales. The document states that the year was affected by various tensions in international trade and by the changes introduced by the United States in its commercial policy.

Exports to the United States accounted for 12.7% of Spanish agri-food and fisheries sales directed to third countries. Overall, the U.S. market concentrated a share of 4.2% of total Spanish sector exports. Among the main products sent are olive oil, wine and must, and other preserved legumes and vegetables.

Olive oil holds a specific weight within this trade. Spain exported this product worth 4.838 billion euros to international markets during 2025, of which 15.1% went to the United States. The North American country was the second market for Spanish olive oil by value, after Italy and ahead of Portugal.

The report differentiates these specific data from those pertaining to the overall chapter on oils and fats. Spanish exports of this group to the United States reached 970.55 million euros in 2025. The figure includes olive oil, but also other products categorized under this tariff chapter.

The same distinction applies to beverages. Exports of this chapter totalled 374.71 million euros to the United States. MAPA identifies wine and must among the main agri-food products sold in the U.S. market, although the 374.71 million correspond to the total beverages and not exclusively to wine.

The evolution of imports followed a different trajectory. Spain bought agri-food and fishery products from the United States worth 2.568 billion euros in 2025, compared to 2.071 billion in 2024, representing an increase of 24%. The United States thus became the second supplier to Spain among third countries, with a share of 9%, only behind Brazil, whose sales reached 2.920 billion. Morocco held the third position, with 2.456 billion.

The main products purchased by Spain from the United States were nuts, corn, and soybeans. The growth in U.S. purchases occurred in a context where Spanish imports from all third countries increased by 4%, reaching 28.600 billion euros. In contrast, exports to these markets decreased by 1.1%, down to 25.609 billion.

Overall, Spanish agri-food and fishery exports reached 78.044 billion euros in 2025, an increase of 2.9% compared to a year earlier. Imports grew by 6%, reaching 59.720 billion, while the sector's trade balance stood at 18.324 billion. 67.2% of exports were directed to countries in the European Union.
