Konecranes closes 2025 with historic results and an EBITA margin of 14%

Konecranes closed the 2025 fiscal year with the best results in its history, according to its recently published Annual Report. Despite the uncertainty arising from geopolitical tensions and volatility in international trade policies, the Finnish company executed its strategy consistently throughout the year and achieved a comparable EBITA of €588 million, with a margin of 14.0%, the highest recorded in its history. Net sales totaled €4,187.8 million, a figure similar to the previous fiscal year, while order intake grew by 9.7% to €4,389.3 million.

The company's president and CEO, Marko Tulokas, attributed these results to the diversified nature of Konecranes' business model, which operates in more than 50 countries and serves customers in a wide range of industrial sectors. Geopolitical instability did not cause a contraction in demand, but rather a redistribution of volumes among customer segments. The energy, aviation, aerospace, and defense sectors showed positive development in order intake, while the port solutions business recorded particularly favorable performance.

The three business areas of the company —Industrial Service, Industrial Equipment, and Port Solutions— simultaneously improved their profitability for the third consecutive year in comparable currencies, which Tulokas described as a significant achievement in the current macroeconomic context.

In the Industrial Service area, order intake totaled €1,561.1 million, with a 2.9% increase in comparable currencies, and sales reached €1,562.8 million, with a 1.9% increase. The comparable EBITA margin stood at 21.8%, driven by price management, execution efficiency, and cost control. A significant element of the fiscal year was the launch of the Konecranes Portal, an integrated platform that unifies access to maintenance information, asset data, spare parts orders, and content recommendations, replacing previous tools yourKONECRANES and Konecranes Store.

The Industrial Equipment area recorded order intake of €1,367.6 million, representing growth of 10.8% in comparable currencies. Sales reached €1,275.3 million and the comparable EBITA margin improved to 9.4%. Among the product launches of the fiscal year is the series D electric chain hoist, designed for demanding industrial environments such as foundries and galvanizing plants, which began commercialization in the EMEA region with ongoing global expansion. In parallel, the rollout of the series S hoist continued, with notable market interest in the higher capacity double-beam variant.

Port Solutions was the area with the highest dynamism in terms of order capture: €1,637.8 million, 21.2% more in comparable currencies. Sales remained practically stable at €1,523.4 million, and the comparable EBITA margin surpassed double digits for the first time, standing at 10.5%. Among the most notable orders of the year are 25 new RTG cranes and 10 upgrades for a Colombian terminal, as well as eight hybrid RTGs for BCT Gdynia in Poland, which included unit number 3,000 produced by Konecranes in this category. Orders for mobile port cranes were also recorded in Greece, Brazil, Latvia, Italy, Chile, and the Netherlands.

In terms of technological innovation, the company launched the E-Hybrid version of its tire RTG crane, extending hybrid operation to a combination of electric-battery, and also introduced the Konecranes Noell hydrogen fuel cell container handler, validated with results equivalent to diesel and hybrid models by a German customer. Additionally, an electric stacker was added to the port equipment catalog. By 2026, the company plans to complete the electrification of all product lines in its lift trucks division.

Spending on research and development amounted to €78.1 million. The Zero4 program, co-financed by Business Finland and led by Konecranes, brought together over 90 partners by the end of 2025, aiming to create a unified materials flow platform that integrates monitoring, orchestration, and optimization of intralogistic equipment fleets.

In the field of sustainability, Konecranes obtained the Platino rating from EcoVadis for the first time, ranking among the top 1% of the best-rated companies in a universe of over 150,000 companies globally evaluated. Emissions from its own operations have been reduced by 54% since 2019, while those from the value chain have decreased by 20% in the same period. The company updated its climate targets for scope 1 and 2, setting a 60% reduction in emissions from its own operations by 2030, and maintains the target of a 50% reduction in value chain emissions (scope 3) for the same year.

Konecranes begins 2026 with an order book of €2,988.4 million and a financial position that the management team describes as strong to continue long-term growth.
