Everything Spain and the EU buy and sell outside the Union enters or leaves by sea, rail, road or air. This section measures that split every month, in euros and in tonnes, with Eurostat data.

A note on reading this: rail’s near-zero weight here is structural — Spain has no operational rail link with countries outside the EU, and the bulk of Spanish rail trade (to France, Germany or Italy) is intra-EU, a universe in which Eurostat has not recorded the mode of transport comparably since 2001. Rail itself is measured in our rail observatory (INE and CNMC, in Spanish).
