All data come from the DataComex API of Spain’s Secretariat of State for Trade. This database holds the official customs records of Spain’s foreign trade, in euros and kilograms.
Updates
DataComex publishes monthly updates. Figures for the most recent months are provisional until the Spanish Tax Agency consolidates them. Where this matters, the section flags it explicitly in each indicator.
Reference periods
The period selector offers three windows. Last 12 months (default): the latest 12 published months, provisional ones included; the year-on-year change compares them with the same 12 months a year earlier. Year to date: the months already published in the current year against the same months of the previous year. Calendar year: a full year against the previous one; only years with all 12 months published are offered.
Checking against press releases
Official releases (ICEX, the Andalusian regional government, chambers of commerce…) usually quote the year-to-date figure — “up to May”, “in the first five months” — built on this same source. Selecting that window in the period selector, the section’s figures should match the release; small differences may be due to later revisions of provisional data.
Units
All figures are expressed in current euros (not deflated). For readability, values are shown in millions of euros (€m, €1m = €10⁶). Abbreviations such as “bn” are avoided on purpose: in Spanish a billón is 10¹², not a thousand million.
Andalusia
The Andalusia section adds up the data of its eight provinces: Almería (04), Cádiz (11), Córdoba (14), Granada (18), Huelva (21), Jaén (23), Málaga (29) and Sevilla (41), as coded in the official DataComex catalogue.
Product classification
Products follow the TARIC nomenclature. By default this section shows level-1 chapters (two digits); product pages go down to more detailed levels. Chapter titles are shown in English with the official Combined Nomenclature wording published by Eurostat; headings and codes below chapter level keep the Spanish description published by DataComex.
