A commercial delegation from the Port Authority of Ceuta, led by its president, Juan Manuel Doncel, along with the Chamber of Commerce of Ceuta and representatives from local port service companies, attends the Posidonia International Shipping Exhibition 2026, which takes place in Athens (Greece) until next Friday, June 5. The port authority attends this international event with the aim of diversifying its offerings in the sector and expanding the catalog of services provided by the autonomous city's facilities, whose infrastructure has undergone operational modifications in the recent period.

Posidonia brings together over 2,000 exhibiting companies from more than 90 countries and expects close to 25,000 professional visitors. This space serves as a meeting point for the global maritime industry, gathering firms related to shipbuilding, engineering, machinery, maritime transport, marine fuels, logistics, and new technologies applied to the sector's activities.

The Ceuta representation holds meetings with shipowners, maritime operators, shipping companies, and port service providers to detail the operational conditions of the local facility and evaluate business options. Among the contacts of the day, Juan Manuel Doncel has met with Kenneth Dam, the executive director and global head of Bunkering at TFG Marine, who has been at the forefront of this multinational alliance since its creation in 2020.

The meeting has a specific technical component as it involves the main responsible person for the supply area of TFG Marine, a firm that supplies more than ten million metric tons of fuel annually in over thirty-five global locations and has the support of the Trafigura, Frontline, and CMB.TECH groups.

During the meeting, projections for marine fuel demand in the area of the Strait of Gibraltar, the introduction of alternative origin fuels, the obligations of the energy transition, and services related to the decarbonization of maritime transport were evaluated. TFG Marine operates jointly with Vilma Oil Med in the Ceuta area since December 2024, after completing the purchase of the majority stake in the Spanish firm by the international operator. This business structure implements an operational upgrade plan in the area through the incorporation of vessels for supply and planning for the use of biofuels in accordance with European Union regulations.

TFG Marine's operations in Ceuta are supported by its connection with Petrolífera Ducar, the company responsible for managing the main hydrocarbon storage facilities in the Ceuta port area. This infrastructure allows for the establishment of an integrated logistics chain in the Western Mediterranean.

Activity data reflect that the Port of Ceuta finished the last fiscal year with a volume close to one million tons of liquid bulk, a segment that ranks among the main activities of the facility. The presence of companies TFG Marine, Vilma Oil Med, and Petrolífera Ducar fits within the management model aimed at consolidating fuel traffic and generating economic activity in the municipality. The port authority's participation in Posidonia 2026 is part of external promotion actions aimed at attracting traffic in the bunkering segment and providing technical assistance to ships on international routes.
