The works of the second phase of the Maritim Lake project in the Llano Amarillo of Algeciras are progressing well with the removal of rubble, sand, and mud in the area of action. The project, driven by the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras and executed by the company SATO, focuses on this first section on the maritime work and the construction of the new closure of the northern front of the esplanade.

To minimize environmental impact, anti-turbidity barriers have been installed to contain the sediments generated by the dredging, whose materials are being classified and collected separately for proper treatment. In parallel, the production of ecological concrete blocks Coastalock developed by ECOncrete, designed to promote marine biodiversity, is underway. More than 50 of the 272 planned pieces have already been produced, each weighing more than three tons.

The action represents an investment of 5.57 million euros and an execution period of 18 months, over an area of more than 16,000 square meters. Among the main interventions, the creation of a new 77-meter pier section stands out, which will serve as a boarding point for maritime visits by the Port Authority.

The project also includes a slope dam combined with ecological pieces, a 240-meter seating area facing the sea, and three fishing platforms.

In the urban area, the transformation includes more than 1,300 square meters of green spaces with 163 trees and more than 1,600 shrubs, as well as pergolas, benches, fountains, a café area, a bike lane, 10,648 square meters of pedestrian zones, marine-themed children's playgrounds, sports spaces, and physical maintenance areas for the elderly.
