A total of twelve ports from the state-owned port system participate in the international fair Fruit Logistica, held from February 4 to 6 in Berlin, integrated into the joint stand."Ports of Spain", led by Ports of the State. The aim is to position Spanish ports in the heart of Europe as the best logistical option for the traffic of fresh products and to strengthen Spain's role as a strategic node in international fruit and vegetable trade.
The ports of Almería, Algeciras, Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Cartagena, Castellón, Huelva, Las Palmas, Málaga, Motril, and Valencia showcase in the German capital the main competitive advantages of the Spanish port system to agents of the global logistics chain. These include nearly 100 million square meters of land area and storage spaces, refrigerated warehouses with an approximate capacity of two million cubic meters, connectionsreefer, more than 390,000 linear meters of docking and maritime connections with any port in the world.
Furthermore, Spanish ports have reinforced border control points (PCF) following the implementation of the new model of border control services for goods, specialized phytosanitary services, and highly adapted logistical solutions for the traffic of fruit and vegetable products.
The state port system also highlights its commitment to the decarbonization of the transport chain, through initiatives such as the development of new fuels, the use of renewable energies, electrical connections to docked ships (OPS), and improving the energy efficiency of logistical and refrigerated infrastructures.
