The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) will incorporate into its agenda for the upcoming commercial mission to Japan participation in the TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Japan 2026, which will be held on October 29 in Tokyo. The president of the port institution, Gerardo Landaluce, will intervene as a speaker at this event, integrated into the program that the Algeciras delegation will develop in the Japanese market between October 27 and 29.
The forum will take place at the Conrad Tokyo and will gather for one day leaders from shipping companies, financial firms, energy companies, shipyards, and technology firms to analyze the main changes currently affecting international maritime transport and, specifically, the Japanese industry.
TradeWinds presents this edition under the theme From volatility to vantage: Positioning Japan for leadership at the helm of change, with a program focused on the decisions facing the sector due to the limited capacity available in shipyards, the adoption of alternative fuels, technological transformation, and the disruptions still affecting the main international maritime routes.
Among the topics planned are the financing of fleet renewal and new generation ships, the application of artificial intelligence and automation to maritime transport, the development of autonomous navigation, decarbonization options and fuels, as well as the adaptation of shipowners to an international scenario conditioned by changes in trade flows and geopolitical factors. Landaluce's participation will allow the perspective of the Port of Algeciras to be included in a meeting primarily aimed at leaders of companies and organizations linked to the international maritime business. The organization includes the president of the APBA among the speakers invited for the 2026 edition.
Participation in the forum is part of the Direct Commercial Mission to Tokyo 2026, scheduled between October 27 and 29. The call promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bay of Algeciras within the Pyme Global program is primarily aimed at companies in the logistics, maritime, and port sectors of the province of Cádiz. The initiative has co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund and includes a maximum of 20 beneficiary companies.
The commercial action in Japan is also part of the international program developed jointly by the APBA and the Port Community of the Bay of Algeciras. COMPORT has already included in its planning for 2026 an action in Tokyo aimed at presenting the services available at the Port of Algeciras and among the companies in its port community.
The agenda in Tokyo will continue the commercial actions developed by the Port of Algeciras and its business community in international markets, with meetings and sectoral encounters aimed at showcasing the logistics and maritime service offerings of the Bay of Algeciras. The TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Japan will take place on the last day of the mission, on October 29, coinciding with the conclusion of the planned programming in the Japanese capital.
