The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras commemorates in 2026 the tenth edition of its program "Know Your Port", a well-established initiative that will once again bring the port reality closer to the citizens coinciding with the celebration of European Maritime Day.
After the success of previous editions, more than 2,200 residents will have the opportunity to learn about the functioning of the Port of Algeciras from the sea, navigate alongside large vessels, and enjoy dolphin watching in the bay.
The visits will take place aboard the vessel Jackelin, which will depart between May 18 and June 5 from the Ribera Maritime Promenade, in the Llano Amarillo area. The crossings will occur from Monday to Thursday in the afternoon (6:00 PM) and on Friday mornings (11:00 AM).
The registration period will open on May 11 and will be managed exclusively online through the APBA website. The activity is free, although minors must be accompanied by an adult, and each application may include a maximum of five places.
During the maritime tour, participants will be able to observe key infrastructures such as container terminals and industrial areas, while receiving information about the history, evolution, and economic impact of the port, as well as its innovation, sustainability, and port-city relationship projects.
"Know Your Port" is once again part of the official agenda of the European Commission to commemorate European Maritime Day, a celebration that since 2008 seeks to bring the maritime world closer to citizens and highlight the strategic role of ports. In 2018, this initiative was recognized as an ambassador of the event at the European level.
In addition to this activity, the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras organizes annual visit programs for groups that allow more than 4,000 people — including students and groups — to get to know the port facilities firsthand from March to May.
