The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) has initiated the process to hire an external auditing service aimed at evaluating and reinforcing its environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
This step is part of the port authority's strategy to go beyond regulatory compliance, consolidating a management model based on international standards such as the ISO 14001 and the OHSAS 18001, whose certifications were obtained in May 2011 and have been renewed continuously since then.
The objective of these certifications is to ensure that the APBA's activities are carried out under demanding criteria regarding environmental protection and occupational risk prevention, further reinforcing its institutional commitment in these key areas.
According to the terms, hiring a single auditing entity will allow for resource optimization, generate synergies, and improve efficiency both from a procedural and economic standpoint. The contract will aim to define the scope and execution of the necessary external audits to verify the proper functioning of both management systems, thus contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining the quality and sustainability standards of the Port Authority. Additionally, having these certifications and their corresponding external validation reinforces the positioning and prestige of the APBA, evidencing its commitment to good practices in port management.
