The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras has awarded the company Contratas Terrestres y Marítimas, S.L.U. a contract worth 67,450 euros to carry out the refloating and securing of the vessel "Mr. M", which sank in the Port of Tarifa.
The operation was activated urgently after the sinking of the ship, with the aim of avoiding a serious risk situation both for people and for property and the environment. To this end, a specialized operation was deployed that included marine resources and appropriate lifting equipment to ensure the extraction and stabilization of the vessel.
Built in 2005 by the Italian shipyard Mangusta and remodeled in 2015, the Mr. M was intended for luxury rental in the Mediterranean. The yacht, capable of accommodating six passengers and two crew members, was noted for its cruising speed of 30 knots, its three cabins with air conditioning, and a wide range of water leisure offerings: jet skis, skis, kayaks, and paddleboards.
This intervention is part of the usual actions of the Port Authority to ensure safety in its facilities and minimize any possible environmental impact arising from maritime incidents.
