The shipping company Maersk has announced the review of the Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for maritime shipments from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia to more than 25 African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Namibia, Chad, and Mali. The measure will come into effect on March 16, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice.
The update will affect both SPOT and non-SPOT bookings. For non-SPOT bookings, the PSS will be calculated according to the Price Calculation Date (PCD), which corresponds to the scheduled departure date of the first maritime leg at the time of reservation confirmation, or to the last delivery date at the port for non-FMC bookings. In SPOT bookings, the rate will be determined based on the departure date of the first vessel at the time of reservation confirmation.
