The Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd AG has elected Karl Gernandt as the new chairman of the board with immediate effect. He replaces Michael Behrendt, who is currently unable to perform his duties due to health reasons, although he will continue as a regular member of the Council.
The Council emphasized that this decision in no way diminishes Behrendt's outstanding contribution and expressed the hope that he can resume the presidency once he fully recovers. The possible reinstatement will be analyzed at the appropriate time.
After taking over the presidency, Gernandt handed over his position as chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee to Oscar Eduardo Hasbún Martínez, a member of the Supervisory Board since 2014.
In addition, Francisco Pérez Mackenna resigned from his position as representative of the shareholders of CSAV, effective February 1, 2026. He was replaced by Macario Valdés Raczynski starting February 13, 2026, following his appointment as a new member of the Council by the Local Court of Hamburg.
