The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) and the Comport association have led a delegation composed of more than fifty heads from 25 companies operating in the port facility to attend the Posidonia 2026 Fair. The international meeting, which is biennial, started today, Monday, at the Metropolitan Expo Centre in Athens (Greece) and will take place until next Friday, June 5. Given the anticipated volume of commercial activity, the port institution has arranged a space of 52 square meters, located in pavilion 3 (exhibitor 202), equipped with work areas aimed at facilitating the business meetings of the companies traveling with their international clients.
The Athens event is considered one of the most globally relevant platforms for the ship services sector, an area that encompasses activities such as consignment, naval and electronic repairs, provisions, crew changes, maritime legal advice, diving work, Marpol waste management, supply and bunkering of fuels. The companies based in the area managed by the APBA maintain a reference position in the international market within these technical and commercial specialties.
In this 2026 edition, the Port of Algeciras presents as its main novelty its configuration as a green energy node (Green Energy Hub). This strategy is based on the results of the 2025 fiscal year, during which the Algeciras facilities have consolidated their position among the top three in the European ranking in terms of transition fuel supply volume with a low carbon footprint, particularly highlighting liquefied natural gas (LNG) and renewable liquefied biogas. According to technical data prepared by the GASNAM association, the Iberian Peninsula takes a pioneering position in the distribution of these green molecules, allowing shipping companies to immediately reduce carbon dioxide emission rates in their fleets.
Within the agenda of events scheduled by the Andalusian representation, the stand of the Port of Algeciras will host a working and networking day on Wednesday, June 3, starting at 1:00 PM. During this event, the port authority will offer a reception to clients, shipowners, and professional visitors with the aim of fostering commercial exchange.
